Sungmo from SUPERNOVA Announces Role in Japanese Film 'Ransom' via Fantrie

 

Yoon Sungmo, a former member of SUPERNOVA, announced on July 7th through the fan platform channel Fantrie that he will star in the Japanese film "Ransom," set to be released in Japan.

SUPERNOVA is a five-member male idol group that debuted in 2007. They focused primarily on activities in Japan, achieving great success through a thorough localization strategy. Since starting their activities in Japan in 2009, they have remained active. Notably, their album "SIX," released in December 2013, reached number two on the Oricon chart.

Sungmo has been pursuing a solo career since 2018 and has been actively working as an actor in both Korea and Japan recently.

In Korea, he has expanded his acting career by starring in films such as "Men Want the First, Women Want the Last" and "Butterfly Effect." With his excellent Japanese language skills, he has also appeared in Japanese dramas like "Marriage Hunting Restaurant" and "Doctor Chocolate." The film "Ransom" was screened at the Okinawa Film Festival in April and received positive reviews from the audience.

Actor Yoon Sungmo shared, "'Ransom' is a traditional action movie that combines gun action and solemn music. The story revolves around a kidnapper shrouded in mystery, focusing on a cold-blooded ransom battle where loyalty does not exist. This is a new challenge in an area I've never explored before, and I know fans are very excited about it. I'm pleased to share the news of the nationwide release in Japan with my Korean fans first through my Fantrie channel."

Meanwhile, Sungmo continues to communicate with his fans through Fantrie while managing his busy schedule, including his recent film "Butterfly Effect," which was released in early June and co-starred Hong Soo-ah.
